Being too comfortable spiritually can be dangerous. We can get lazy with personal sin. We can start treating others wrong. We can lose sight of the fear of God ruling our lives. Israel was excusing their sinful behavior all the while maintaining religious rituals. God keeps warning them of judgment and reaching out to them to repent.
